Thought For The Day: The 1 Way Your Brain Might Ruin Your Day Today

Our Brains are nothing more than separating and labeling machines.

 Reality is simply moving energy.

Our brains create false separations within this moving energy and then put labels on those separations.

Our brains then perceive reality, which is simply moving energy, as a collection of separated static objects interacting with each other. This is the creation of FORM.

FORM is:

A)   Things

B)   People

C)   Circumstances and

D)  Thoughts

FORM = a misinterpretation of reality

FORM has no power because it is not really here (it only seams like it’s here because our brains carve up and label what is actually here).

All power comes from the moving energy itself that is reality, NOT from our brain’s misinterpretation of that moving energy (or FORM).

So FORM does not = POWER

The one way your brain might ruin your day today (or any other day if you let it), is if you allow it to trick you into believing that:

FORM = POWER

This one belief is what takes our attention away from experiencing the actual power of the moving energy that all FORM is made of (or more accurately, that all FORM always is beyond our brain’s misinterpretation of it).

To experience the true power of the moving energy that is reality, all that’s required is to redirect your attention away from FORM (things, people, circumstances and thoughts) and focus more on the SPACE in which all the forms are in.

You can feel it in just one moment of doing this. You might instantly feel a surge in energy. That’s because you are putting your attention on the power itself, not on the misinterpretation of power.

If you do this enough times, your brain might simply have to recognize that FORM does not = POWER, and it may simply let go of believing that FORM = POWER.

This might change how you focus your attention, it might change what you choose to focus on and it might change your experience of every”thing” (FORM).

The Immediate Shift

The shift from negativity to positivity, the shift from limits to possibilities, the shift from problems to solutions, the shift from turmoil to peace, the shift form doubt to confidence, the shift from unhappiness to happiness and the list goes on.

What if there was one simple shift that could create all the above results for you instantly?

Let’s find out if it’s possible.

What if this one simple shift was simply moving from experiencing yourself as the limited form within your circumstances to experiencing yourself as the unlimited space in which all your circumstances form?

From Experiencing This

What if as soon as you feel this shifting of your experience of “you” in relation to all your circumstances (or in other words, in relation to everything that happens in your life), all the above results happen naturally?

What if this shift is simply the process of noticing the reality of who you really are as apposed to continuing to focus your attention on the fictitious, false, limited idea of yourself caused by the hypnosis of your cultural conditioning; the “you” that isn’t really real?

So if this is the case, then how do we do it?

What if it is as simple as putting more of your attention on one thing instead of another?

When I went to art school, I learned about the concept of “negative space”. Negative space is simply the idea of the empty space in a drawing or painting between the objects in the picture. Artists learn that the negative space is just as important as the objects in the picture because they both work together to create the composition.

What if this concept has been the missing piece of our life experience? What if our cultural conditioning has simply taught us to filter out the negative space (or the space between objects) and to treat it as unimportant?

What if the space in which all of the objects we perceive sit is actually more important to focus on than the objects themselves?

What if this space is not empty or negative at all, but is actually the unlimited essence of who we really are?

According to many current scientific theories, this is actually the case.

Try this out. Take a look at the picture below and simply practice for a second putting more of your attention on what artists call the “negative space” (or the space that you see between and around the object) than your are on the object itself. Go ahead:

Tree Picture

Pretty easy right? Now try the same thing with the objects in your immediate surroundings; simply put more of your attention on the space in between and around all the objects you see than you are putting on the objects themselves. Go ahead.

How did you feel while you did this? Did you notice any change to the way you were feeling while you did this? If not try it for just a little longer this time.

This next time, as you are putting more of your attention on the space than on the objects, say this following phrase repeatedly to yourself (say “yourself” not “myself”):

“Notice yourself as the space in which all you are noticing is.”

“Notice yourself as the space in which all you are noticing is.”

“Notice yourself as the space in which all you are noticing is.”

How do you feel now?

What if the shift from negativity to positivity, the shift from limits to possibilities, the shift from problems to solutions, the shift from turmoil to peace, the shift form doubt to confidence, the shift from unhappiness to happiness and the list goes on, is simply developing and getting really good at the skill of putting more of your attention on the space in which all objects are and of experiencing yourself as that space?

What if?

What if Life Really is Like a Video Game?

What if life really is like a video game? And with each lifetime you live, the object is to learn the necessary learnings to move up to the next level. If you don’t learn what is necessary to move up during your current lifetime, then you start at that same level again in your next lifetime.

What if there are many levels to the game of living and life as a human is on level 3, the object of level 3 being to learn that we are the definers of circumstances – not the other way around?

We prove that we have learned this by being how we want to be in every situation, no matter what happens. All our circumstances are designed to be challenges to us doing this and will continually try to lure us or scare us into believing that we are defined by our circumstances.

Anything that we normally consider a “good” thing that happens is trying to lure us into letting this “good” situation define who we think we are (for example getting the perfect job, house, car, situation). Anything that we normally consider a “bad” thing that happens is trying to scare us into accepting the definitions of ourselves that this situation would have us believe (for example what we would think of ourselves after loosing the perfect job, house, car or situation).

Both “good” and “bad” circumstances are opportunities to demonstrate that we have learned that NO circumstances define us. That we are the definer of ALL our circumstances regardless of how alluring or frightening they may be.

Each time we demonstrate this learning, we gain power. Each time we fail at demonstrating it and get sucked into allowing ourselves to be defined by our circumstances, we loose power.

If we meet enough of the challenges and show that we are able to consistently be how we want to be through EVERYTHING that happens and not loose ourselves within the circumstances, we are demonstrating that we have learned the necessary lessons of level 3 and then we may move on to level 4.

So that would mean EVERYTHING that happens is the exact right challenge for that moment for you to demonstrate that you define circumstances and that circumstances do not define you.

It doesn’t matter what the circumstances are, great or terrible, they are all equally important because they are your next opportunity to move ahead in the game.

If you feel fear or any other negative emotion about a situation, that is your signal that you are ready to demonstrate you have learned this principle by proving it with the particular situation that has arisen.

How do you demonstrate it? You keep being how you want to be through the situation. You stay in the STATE OF BEING that you want to be in and you don’t let the situation pull you away from it. You stay feeling, thinking and behaving the way that you choose regardless of ANYTHING that is happening.

You are then bringing your true self to the situation, not letting the situation define what you feel, think and do and who you believe yourself to be. You are then proving you have learned more of the lesson of this level.

Thought for the Day:

If you believe the spiritual idea that the most important thing we are here to do in this life is to discover more of who we truly are,

AND you also understand that our problems can be our greatest opportunities to accomplish this,

AND if most of your problems right now are due to a lack of money,

THEN be grateful because you are being showered with the greatest kind of abundance.

Using the 5 “W”s and One “H” to Answer WTF

Sometimes ideas are like new sneakers. Sometimes you need to try them on and walk around in them a little before you really know if they fit or not.

Here’s an idea you might find fun to try on.

There’s a concept in journalism and police investigations called the 5”W”s and one “H”. The idea is that in order to fully understand a subject or event there are 6 questions that need to be answered: The who, what, why, when, where and how.

Missing one or more of these facts about a subject can cause confusion and uncertainty for readers and investigators.

Many people have been experiencing an increasing amount of confusion and uncertainty about the world, themselves and life in general these days. What if it’s because they are missing satisfactory answers to some of these questions? What if the answers that many people had for these questions in the past no longer match up with their current experience of reality?

Being human can be kind of weird. On one level it seams like our lives are constantly changing; like the situations, circumstances, events, people and things that appear in our lives are always in a state of changing.

And on another level there are some things that seam to be constant; like the fact that we always seam to live in a body, trees and grass and the sky always seam to be there. Dying seams to be inescapable. Gravity works. Stuff like that.

So it’s like we’re left wondering what the heck changes and what the heck doesn’t? In other words, what can we expect to change and what can we count on to always be the same?

Scientist keep looking for the answer to everything and keep finding increasingly more intricate ways of disagreeing with one another.

Spiritual teachers tell us to be present and that now is all we have and just accept what is.

Meanwhile many of us struggle with our life circumstances feeling that who we really are is increasingly at odds with what is necessary for us to do to survive.

If we had answers for the 5 Ws and one H on this subject of what changes and what doesn’t that we could consistently verify, then maybe we might feel less confused and uncertain right now, wouldn’t you say?

What if there are 2 levels to life? What if as humans we are actually living on 2 levels simultaneously? What if each level has it’s own answers to the 5 Ws and on H questions? What if the reasons why may of us feel confused and uncertain is:

A) We have not understood that we are living on 2 levels so we have been getting answers to one of the levels mixed up with the other? And

B) We have been missing some answers and /or accepted answers that aren’t working now.

What if we think of the 2 levels of life as:

1) Level 1 – The Unchanging

2) Level 2 – The Changing

If we understood accurate, consistently verifiable answers to the 5 “W” s and one “H” questions for each level and we understood how the 2 levels interacted with each other, then that might be helpful towards our bigger question of WTF, right?

Let’s try some answers on shall we? Again as we’re trying these on, just like we try on a pair of new sneakers before we buy, we want to make sure they fit and feel good to walk around in before we buy them, right? In other words, they need to pass the test.

Why don’t we make the test this: Any answers we decide to keep needs to make our experience of living better? That seams like something we can verify doesn’t it?

O.K. Let’s try these on:

The Unchanging level is the primary level of living and is the more important. All the answers from the Unchanging level always stay the same. It is part of being human and these answers will not change for your entire life.

You do not choose the answers to the Unchanging level.

The Changing level is less important. The answers to the 5”W”s and one “H” questions for this level only matter to the extent that they help the goal laid out by the Unchanging level.

The answers to these questions can change throughout your life. You can choose many of the answers to the Unchanging level.

Here are some possible answers:

The Unchanging Level: Who am I? I am all possibilities

What do I do? I am discovering my connection to all

Why do I do it? To be fully alive

When do I do it? Every moment (there is only now)

Where do I do it? Everywhere I am (there is only here)

How do I do it? By keeping as much energy flowing through my human energy field as possible.

I do this by choosing the most exciting options from the Changing Level every moment that I can.

The Changing Level:

Who am I? Your roles – You Choose

What do I do? You Choose

Why do I do it? You Choose

Where do I do it?You Choose

How do I do it? You Choose

These answers change. Every choice you make on the Changing Level is an opportunity to further the goal of the Unchanging Level or to move away from it.

Thought for the Day:

Planning is a wonderful life strategy to use if you want to produce the result of feeling less than excited most of the time.

If you want to produce the result of feeling excited most of the time while getting every “thing” that you want (knowing that you don’t always know what you want before you get it so there’s no way you can plan for it) then the best strategy to use is Exploration and Discovery.

Song of the Day: Explore

Explore

© 21012 Andy Harrison

I’m here to keep it going

I’m here to stay in the flow

I’m not here to block it

I just let it go

I direct it to what I want

When the time is right

When it is and how it happens

I don’t ever fight

Chorus:

The world tonight I explore

The world tonight I find more

If I don’t feel excited

I know it’s time to change

‘Cause I’m blocking the flow somehow

Somehow in the way

So I change what I’m believing

Free the energy

Excitement flows back in

With all possibilities

Chorus 2:

The world tonight I explore

The world tonight I find more

The world tonight I know my part

Dreams unfolding from my heart

Thought For The Day:

Excitement is experiencing the energy of all possibilities flowing in your life.

Having an exciting life is simply allowing the flow to happen without getting in the way.

You know you are allowing the flow to happen when you are excited about what you are doing.

If you simply do what’s most exciting each moment and make this flow more important than any result that is created by it, then all the results necessary to keep the flow moving can happen magically.

In other words, excitement creates more excitement.

Thought For The Day:

Doing the most exciting thing every moment

 Is

Doing what’s necessary to keep the most energy flowing through your life as possible

 Is

Directing the energy to the results you want most

 Is

Allowing the process to unfold without knowing how

 Is

Improving the process by letting your results show you how

 Is

Being fully alive and the most effective you can be

 Is

Doing the most exciting thing every moment

 Now let’s reverse it…

Doing the most exciting thing every moment

Thought for the Day:Instantly Eliminate all Fear in Your Life Forever – Give Up all Hope.

Instantly Eliminate all Fear in Your Life Forever – Give Up all Hope.

I know how this sounds, but I’m serious!

Let’s pretend for a second that the latest findings in sciences like Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Physics and similar fields are correct and at the base level of our existence we are in fact an ever flowing stream of all possibilities all happening NOW.

That would mean that we not only have instant access to any possibility that exists but that we actually ARE all those possibilities right at this very moment.

So the only way we would not experience a particular possibility in our life is if we shut ourselves off from that part of ourselves (ourselves being ALL Possibilities).

That would mean that if we want to experience something in our life that we are not now noticing, it’s not about getting it, making it happen or working towards it, as much as it is about stopping the process of shutting ourselves off from it.

If we ARE all possibilities right now already, then simply by stopping the process of shutting ourselves off from the possibilities we want should allow them to show up right?

So if all this is true then we would probably be very interested in knowing 2 things:

1)    How do we shut ourselves off from the possibilities we want? and

2)    How do we stop doing that?

If we are ALL Possibilities continually flowing right now, then the only way we could shut ourselves off from any of them is to pay attention to something other than that flow of possibilities happening right NOW.

In other words we would have to pay attention to something other than who we really are.

The only thing that is not the flow of all possibilities happening right now is any particular idea in our memory or in our imagined future.

So the only way for us to shut ourselves off from any possibility is to focus on a memory or an imagined scenario that might happen in the future.

If we think of life and ourselves as a continually flowing river of all possibilities then focusing on a memory or a future scenario is like us holding onto one particular possibility amidst the mighty flow of all possibilities.

It’s like we’ve singled out one possibility and are trying to hold onto it against the force of the mighty continual flow of every other possibility.

This is what fear is right? Remembering something that happened before and imagining it happening again.

This is also what hope is. It’s constructing a possible scenario and holding it out in the future regardless of what might be changing right now.

From an energy point of view, hope and fear are actually the same thing. They are exactly the same process of shutting yourself off from the flow of all possibilities now. The only reason we have 2 different words for them is that we’ve labeled one as feeling bad and the other as feeling good.

By giving up the pattern of holding out hope, you instantly loose all your fear because it’s the same thing.

Try it out for an hour and see for yourself.

If you are not waiting for some possible scenario to happen in the future, then you’ll find there is nothing to be afraid of losing in the future either.

Your fear has to disappear because hope and fear are the same pattern.

So you might be saying to yourself at this point something like: “Yeah but what do I have if I don’t have hope? Won’t life be depressing and meaningless?”

So what would be left if you were no longer shutting yourself off from the continual flow of all possibilities?

That’s right – the continual flow of all possibilities!

You might find that by giving up hope (and fear simultaneously) you immediately gain access to the flow of all possibilities happening right now. There’s no other place for your attention to go.

How will you know you are experiencing it? You might discover that it is where your excitement comes from.

You might also be saying something like “So that means I should never plan or think about the future or work towards anything again?”

Maybe think of it this way. If we ARE the flow of all possibilities happening right now then it would make sense that we could experience any of them if we didn’t shut ourselves off from them.

So by keeping our focus on the flow of all possibilities moving through us we could then direct that flow to specific possibilities that we wish to experience.

It’s as if we have been given this massive firehouse that constantly sprays any possibility we want. But we have been conditioned to believe that we aren’t holding the hose – that some other force or other people or institutions etc are holding the hose. So we let it fall to ground (or let others take control of it) believing that we don’t have any real say in which possibilities we experience from the hose.

But if we pick the hose back up and keep our focus on the flow coming out, we can then begin to truly direct the flow and choose which experiences we want to show up.

By giving up hope and fear we give up chasing the results of the flow of possibilities and we focus on directing the flow of possibilities.

Try it out. See what happens. I bet you never considered giving up all hope before!

Thought for the Day:

Why Doesn’t this Work? What am I Doing Wrong? What am I Missing Here?

Scientists are now certain that at the core level, everything in life is simply constantly changing energy.

From an energy point of view there is no good or bad. There is no right or wrong, there is only flowing or not flowing. Flowing or stuck.

Any possibility you want to experience in life that you aren’t currently experiencing, must get to you from the process of life’s energy flowing.

Think of life simply as a huge river of flowing possibilities-always moving. You can experience any number of particular possibilities in your life as long as you allow the possibilities to keep flowing.

Think about it. Every time in your life where you felt excited and happy was a result of your allowing the flow of life to happen. Every time in your life when you felt less than great was a result of you somehow blocking the flow of possibilities.

You remember how the beginning of that relationship felt; so fresh, new and exhilarating. You remember when you first started that new job or that new business. It felt exciting because you were allowing the energy to keep flowing. Then over time what did you do? You fixated on certain possibilities and you tried to keep them from changing, right? You started to block the flow of life’s energy.

So what happened then? The relationship started to feel stagnant. The job started to get boring. The business stopped growing; and all because you were simply blocking the flow of new possibilities.

How does this happen? We are brought up to believe that life is static or at least can be. So the mantra has been: “work really hard to get what you want and then you will live happily ever after”. Or in other words, something outside yourself will make you happy and once you experience that possibility, then life can just stay that way and you will be happy forever.

In my humble opinion, this is the biggest load of bullshit infecting our planet today. Thinking in this way ensures that you will never be happy for very long. It also ensures that you will never continue to create successful results in your life.

Why? Because life doesn’t work like that. Life WILL keep moving regardless of what you want to hold onto, because that’s what it does. That’s the nature of reality. It can’t not keep moving except when you work really hard at stopping the flow and then you just end up with sore muscles, a stagnant relationship, a boring job or a failing business.

So what if it’s true that you can experience anything you want as long as you keep the flow going? If you knew this to be true, how would your day be different today? What would you focus on? What would you do? What would be one area of your life you would realize wants to start flowing again? What is one small thing you could do right now to feel excited about that area and get the energy flowing, knowing that it’s not about it being any particular way, it’s only about keeping the flow going?

Thought for the Day:

I don’t control the process, I do only what is needed to keep it flowing in the direction (and when possible at the speed) of my desired outcomes.

1) Set outcomes

2) Do only what is needed to keep the process flowing towards them

3) Stay out of the way

Song of the Day “Freedom for the Free”

Here’s a new song I wrote yesterday. Let me know what you think and / or come out and hear it tonight at Ballad Town Billiards 🙂

Freedom for the Free

© Andy Harrison 2012

If life worked at a convenience store selling possibilities

Like an old man behind a counter selling you your reality

You might ask him where to find something

Which isle to go down

He might point you in a direction

Show you what could be found

Chorus:

We’ve got happiness and apocalypse

We’ve got fear and grace

And right down there on isle 3

Confusion by the case

Pick out anything you want

But you might choose carefully

We’ve got slavery for the blamer

We’ve got freedom for the free

If life worked at a convenience store selling possibilities

Stocking shelves with new items

While you looked for what you need

You might ask him what is selling most

To help you to decide

He might say what it is you believe the most

Is what you’re gonna buy

Chorus 2:

We’ve got happiness and apocalypse

Passion and bad advice

We’ve got heaven here on special

And hell at the same price

Whatever it is that you choose

That’s alright with me

We’ve got slavery for the blamer

We’ve got freedom for the free

Bridge:

And some things cost a little more but it’s all the same

Everyone finds what they look for- the reason why you came

Chorus 1

Chorus 2

Could it Be We Already Have the Power to Save the World Right Now?

If you’ve been feeling trapped, anxious, afraid, guilty or angry because you feel the things that you have to do are preventing you from experiencing the life you want, then you might find this quick theory on what might really be happening to you interesting.

First of all, know that you are not alone in feeling this way. It’s been estimated that close to 99% of people alive today are feeling this way to some degree. That’s about 7 billion people.

What if the main reason for us all having these feelings is that a fundamental truth about our natural capabilities has secretly been kept from us?

What if the reason that it is being kept from us is that those who know this truth have been using it against us to create the world we live in today which allows them to remain in control?

What if this fundamental truth is this: Any possibility that a human being thinks about, believes in and acts on with all their energy has to show up in physical form?

If this is true, then we should absolutely not have to feel the way we have been feeling anymore.

If this is true we can create any and all things, situations, events and feelings that we want. We can literally be, have and do anything.

If we discover that this is in fact the truth and we decide to start living with this as the guiding principle behind everything we think, believe and do now, this truth could save us all.

When we understand more about what’s wrong, we can start doing something to make it right.

What We Have to Do Vs. How We Want to Be

A main issue a lot of us seam to be experiencing is that we see “What we have to do” and “How we want to be” as two separate and conflicting things.

We have been trained to think this way from day one so it is our normal way of seeing everything. We are trained to focus all of our attention and energy on “What we have to do” and little to none on “How we want to be” so our patterns of thinking, believing and doing get really good at only the “what we have to do” category.

It’s like we are experts at putting all our attention and energy on “What we (think) we have to do” and we have almost no experience in being “How we want to be”. It’s like “How we want to be” isn’t even an idea we know how to consider.

Think about all the things you were continually taught to focus your attention and energy on growing up: school, church, chores, homework, tests etc. You can even see almost your entire child hood as a long continuous training camp of “What you have to do”.

Now look at what you are taught to focus on as an adult: work, money, taxes, kids, family, church, etc.

For most of us these things now all feel like things we “Have to Do” not as “How we want to be” simply because that’s how we have been trained to experience life.

The idea of considering “How we want to be” doesn’t even come up except as a mind fuck to take you back to “What you have to do”. Let me explain:

As a kid you were just told to focus all your attention and energy on “What you have to do”. Anytime you ask why, the answer was usually “because I said so” or “because you have to” or “because everyone else has to”.

As you got older, if you were more persistent in asking why and those answers above didn’t satisfy you, then you got the next answer cleverly designed to take you right back to “What you have to do” but now in a way where you would believe you were choosing to go back there. Here’s how it works:

You ask the question: “Why do I have to do this?” the new answer is “Well, who do you want to be?” (not “how” do you want to be). You think through the available options (and the only options you are aware of are adults who have been trained only in the “what we have to do” skill) and you pick the one that seems most likely to allow you to be “How you want to be”.

You tell them your new choice of “who you want to be” and they say; “great now here’s what you have to do to get there”. And now you’re right back to “What you have to do” only now with the added burden of believing that you chose to be there and not understanding why it doesn’t feel any different than just doing what you were told in the first place.

This is all just a control game that we have all accepted without even realizing it. We have even started to pass this game on to our kids.

The reason so many of us don’t feel fulfilled might be that we simply want to be “How we want to be” but we don’t know how to do it because we are so well trained in “What we have to do” and every time we try to step out and be “How we want to be” we get caught in the “Who do you want to be” trap.

One key to breaking this pattern might be to begin asking a few different questions of yourself:

1)    Anytime you catch yourself asking: “What do I have to do” or “Who do I want to be” replace it with “How do I want to be NOW”

“How do I want to be NOW” is really the answer you might be looking for. It plugs you back into your power right now. You don’t have to wait for some time in the future and it doesn’t require that you do anything you don’t want to.

2)    In order to sustain this feeling over time, ask yourself “What is the smallest next step that I want to take in being how I want to be now?” or the shorter version: “What do I feel like doing right now?”

This takes you out of the game of acting out some long term plan in pursuit of a mental image of a future you where you might finally get to feel how you want to feel. It also will keep your energy from being stolen for someone else’s agenda.

Thought For The Day: The 2 Universal Laws of Possibility

Imagine for a second that we lived in a world where there were just 2 universal laws that everyone knew about and lived by.

As soon as you could talk, you were taught these 2 laws and you saw example after example of these laws being demonstrated by everyone as you grew up.

Knowing the 2 laws let you know how the world worked and what your particular role in your life was.

The deal was as long as you followed the 2 universal laws you could have anything you wanted.

You always had the choice to not follow the laws but you had no desire to because not following them meant that you would instantly be getting something less than you wanted.

Your parent’s conversation with you when you were small went something like this:

“O.K. in our world you just need to know these 2 things and everything will be amazing. The first is that ANYTHING is possible. That’s right ANYTHING. Anything you can think of can be possible in this world.”

“The second thing is that everything that is in solid form, everything you can see, hear, touch, smell and taste is in a constant state of changing so every possibility that is in solid form now is always changing and eventually will not be here.”

“And O.K. yes there’s a 3rd thing I forgot to tell you. So the world we live in and this universe is a factory of constantly renewing possibilities. Your job as a human in this factory is to decide which possibilities get to be in solid form and to bring those possibilities into physical existence.”

And then you might ask “Well how do I do that?”

“It’s very simple. Your tools are your thoughts, your beliefs and your actions. Your thoughts are you becoming aware of a new possibility, your beliefs are you feeling certain about wanting that possibility and you actions are the building of that possibility. Any possibility that you think, believe and act on with ALL you energy will appear in solid form. The factory will decide when that will be and exactly how it will happen. You just need to remember that it will happen and to do your job one step at a time.”

Imagine how your day might be different if you lived in this world.

Imagine what this world would be like.

Thought for the Day: Your Problems ARE Your Power

Your Problems ARE Your Power

We tend to normally think of problems and the feelings associated with them as something to move away from – something to experience less of.

What if the exact opposite were true?

What if to fully experience our complete range of possibilities – to fully be alive, all we needed to do was plug directly into our problems?

Problems are just mislabeled possibilities – misinterpreted energy.

The most direct route away from a problem is directly into it and through it.

The energy and the possibilities that ARE your problem contain everything you are trying to get by avoiding it and more.

The more problems you have the more power you have. It’s simply now a question of which direction you are choosing to move in relation to your power. Are you unplugging from it or are you plugging in?

How powerful would you feel knowing that every new problem that comes up for the rest of your life will be recharging you and transforming your possibilities?

Your problems ARE your power. Plug in NOW.

Song of the Day “Our Own Definitions”

Our Own Definitions

© 2012 Andy Harrison

Words are like weapons

In the wrong hands

They’ll carve you up into pieces

Before you can understand

They’ll put you on your knees

With a chain ‘round your neck

Have you praying to a God

That turns your life to a wreck

Chorus:

They just want power

They want to keep their positions

They want to be in charge

Of the definitions

But the truth is simple

When we get to choose

Make our own definitions

Me and you

Words are like weapons

When you don’t ever question

Who’s designing the phrases

What’s their intention

Black can be white

And a man just a worm

Love can be hate

With the twist of one term

Chorus:

They just want power

They want to keep their positions

They want to be in charge

Of the definitions

But the truth is simple

When we get to choose

Make our own definitions

Me and you

Words are like weapons

But they cut both directions

They can slice through our bondage

If we make their selection

And the world could be different

In the change of one sound

In the choosing of meaning

It might all turn around

Chorus:

They just want power

They want to keep their positions

They want to be in charge

Of the definitions

But the truth is simple

When we get to choose

Make our own definitions

Me and you

Here’s the Demo and Lyrics for the New Song “Reptile Brain with a Nuclear Button”

Reptile Brain with a Nuclear Button

© 2012 Andy Harrison

Keep a lid on it

Keep it in the box

Don’t let it out

Set up the road blocks

Clamp it down

Close up the gates

Shut all the windows

And pull down the shades

Wall it all off

Get it in the cue

Put in the system

And pass it on through

Lock it down

Get it in a straight jacket

Strap it to the table

Get it in the brackets

Chorus:

Somethin’s gone wrong with this evolution

When fear is the fuel of every solution

We come so far but we aint learned nothin’

Reptile brain with a nuclear button

Stress it test it

Give it the juice

Push it and squush it

Shake somethin’ loose

Confuse it abuse it

Keep it under your thumb

Scare it and tear it

Keep it numb, glum and dumb

Get it up on the screen

Get it in the data

Crunch the numbers

Lay out the strata

Keep it contained

Sweep it under the rug

Keep it all quiet

Get the holes plugged

Chorus:

Somethin’s gone wrong with this evolution

When fear is the fuel of every solution

We come so far but we aint learned nothin’

Reptile brain with a nuclear button

Get it wired up

Tap all the lines

Keep it surveyed

Eye in the sky

Hack it track it

Keep it under wraps

Set the trip wires

And the booby traps

Attract it distract it

Keep it out of the game

Keep it off the field

Make it take the blame

Squeeze it freeze it

Give it nowhere to go

Keep it caged up

Don’t let it grow

Chorus:

Somethin’s gone wrong with this evolution

When fear is the fuel of every solution

We come so far but we aint learned nothin’

Reptile brain with a nuclear button

The Thrive Movie Basics in a Quick Read Format:

What?

A small group of people are working towards a goal of being in complete control of the planet.

Who?

They are private bank owners including the Rothschild’s, the Rockefellers, and Morgan families and others.

Why?

They believe:

1) They are different, separate from and better than the rest of the population.
2) They have the right to be in control.
3) Their being in control is the best thing for the world.
4) Their control is more important than anything else including the lives of anyone who gets in the way of it.

How?

They secretly take control of every system, movement and idea using the following steps:

1) A new system, movement or idea comes into being
2) They ask this question: “How do we use this to get more control?”
3) They generate possible options to co-opt it (influence it in a way that gives them more control) or they determine that they cannot use it.
4) If they have decided they can use it, they implement their best option(s) to co-opt it. If they have determined that they cannot use it, they implement a plan to suppress it, to attack it, to hide it or to kill it.

When?

They have been working on this plan for several generations.

Where?

They are implementing this plan in every country and on every continent of the planet.

Why haven’t I heard of this before or wanted to look further into this before?

There are 2 main reasons:

1) Up until recently this small group has managed to keep control of enough of the sources where people get information from to keep it hidden from most people.

2) When most people are confronted with evidence of this, they
have 6 main belief barriers that keep them from accepting this
idea. They are:

1) They don’t believe anyone would do such a thing
2) They don’t believe anyone could do such a thing
3) They don’t believe that they themselves would fall for this happening
4) They aren’t willing to recognize or to give up what they see as benefits to
themselves in not believing it
5) They don’t believe that they themselves can do anything about it

So what do I do now?

That is the best question. Visit www.Thrivemovement.com

Song of the Day “Don’t Give In”

This is a rewrite of “The Yellow Blues” lyrics with a brand new melody and a chorus.

Don’t Give In

© 2012 Andy Harrison

I’m in love with this moment

I’m in love with right here

What’s done is done

Can’t know the future

My worries disappear

The peace I have been missing

I overlooked it somehow, somehow

There’s a wind keeps on blowing

No matter what I do

But my heart keeps unfolding

Seams each time I stay true

If I can keep my mind from wandering

If right here I can stay, I can stay

Chorus:

If I give up give up give up give up being the victim

And give up give up give up always needing to win

If I give up give up give up give up knowing the answer

If I give up give up give up

But don’t give in

I hear you complaining

And I know just how it feels

When your life seams out to get you

How your fears can feel so real

And I’ve had enough pain this life

It’s time for me, for me to redirect

Chorus:

If I give up give up give up give up being the victim

And give up give up give up always needing to win

If I give up give up give up give up knowing the answer

If I give up give up give up

But don’t give in

The peace I have been missing

Overlooked it somehow

But no more, no more, no more

Chorus:

If I give up give up give up give up being the victim

And give up give up give up always needing to win

If I give up give up give up give up knowing the answer

If I give up give up give up

But don’t give in

I’m in love with this moment

I’m in love with right here

I’m in love with right now

All the peace I have been missing

I overlooked somehow

But no, more no, more no more

There’s a wind keeps on blowing

Seams no matter what I do

But my heart it keeps unfolding

I’m in love with right here

What’s done is done

Can’t know the future

Let my worries disappear

I’m in live with this moment

I’m in love with right now

All the peace I have been missing

I overlooked somehow

But no, more no, more no more

I here you complaining

And I know just how it feels

When your life seams out to get you

How your fears can seam so real

And I don’t mean to be uncaring

I don’t mean no disrespect

But I’ve had enough pain in this life

Time for me to redirect

Redirect, redirect, redirect

Chorus:

I’m in love with this moment

I’m in love with right here

What’s done is done

Can’t know the future

Let my worries disappear

I’m in live with this moment

I’m in love with right now

All the peace I have been missing

I overlooked somehow

But no, more no, more no more

Song of the Day “Window”

Window

© 2012 Andy Harrison

I’ve been walking through your rubble

Since the day I learned to walk

And your words built walls inside my mind

Since the moment I could talk

And your laws laid out your plans for me

Even though I had no clue

The freedom burning in my heart

Was the greatest threat to you

Chorus:

You can take back all your advice

Your shiny crafted dreams

The picture of the citizen

The place you made for me

You can take back your promises

‘Cause I don’t give a damn

I just want to know the truth of who I am

I just want to know the truth of who I am

I’ve been fighting every single day

This feeling I couldn’t shake

A part of me was missing

Thought it was my mistake

But now I catch a bigger glimpse

A window to my soul

Now all the lies you could tell

Won’t give you back control

Chorus:

You can take back all your advice

Your shiny crafted dreams

The picture of the citizen

The place you made for me

You can take back your promises

‘Cause I don’t give a damn

I just want to know the truth of who I am

I just want to know the truth of who I am

How to Take Over the Planet in 7 Easy Steps

How to Take Over the Planet in 7 Easy Steps

By Andy Harrison

Imagine you were 7 years old and your mom told you that you couldn’t have any of the cookies that were in the jar on top of the fridge. You really wanted the cookies so you decided you would create a plan to get the cookies anyway.

The What

You first step was to get your mom to focus on something else while you were stealing the cookies so you had one of your friends call on the phone and keep her busy with a prank call while you snuck into the kitchen.

The Why

The next step was to come up with a cover story to explain what you were doing in the event you got caught during any step of the process (going into the kitchen, climbing up to on top of the fridge, carrying the cookies away etc). You decided you would tell your mom that you were creating a care package to give to a homeless family that you heard about on the news (she’d have to go for that- who would get in trouble for being so altruistic?).

The Who

You also decided to invent a scapegoat to explain who took the cookies in the event that you didn’t get caught in the act. You decided you would blame your younger brother and you made a plan to take one of the cookies and crumble it up in his room to leave damaging evidence.

The When

You would also needed to make sure that your scapegoat story was plausible by making sure your younger brother had plenty of opportunities to steal the cookies so you made sure to call your mom out of the kitchen several times the day before, leaving your brother alone near the cookies.

The How

You also needed to make sure it was plausible that your younger brother could actually steal the cookies. Knowing that he wasn’t tall enough to climb up on the counter to get to the top of the fridge, you made sure you left the step stool out near by.

Where

Also in the event that you didn’t get caught in the act, you would need an alibi for where you were during your younger brother’s supposed theft of the cookies. You already had this covered from the many times you had called your mom away from the kitchen the day before.

Backup

Just to ensure that your cover stories worked, you convinced your older sister to go along with your plan by offering to give her some of the cookies. You got her to back up your stories by saying that she saw your younger brother with what looked like chocolate on his face the day of the supposed robbery.

So now you work your plan and you get the cookies.

So how did this work? It worked because you made sure to cover all the questions that would come up – the what, the why, the who, the when, the how and the where. You had a plausible fake answer for each of these questions. Then you had someone else back up your fake story.

As long as humans have plausible answers to these questions (or sometimes just a few of them) about an event, they can believe a given story.

You’ll notice that even though you had planned out answers for all the questions, in reality you probably would only need to use a few of them to get away with stealing the cookies.

Now imagine you are all grown up and part of a small group of people who wish to steal control of the planet. Using the same 7 point plan you used when you were 7 years old, what would you do?

The What

You would get the people who would be apposed to your plan to focus on something else while you were in the process of stealing control of the planet. (News and entertainment from the main stream media which you control)

To learn more go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Tn5-uKgkWw

The Why

You would create a cover story for why you were doing what you are doing in case you get caught in the act. You would spin this story to make you out to look altruistic. (United Nations Agenda 21)

To learn more go to; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzEEgtOFFlM

The Who

You would invent scapegoats to take the blame for the events. (Terrorism, global warming, over population)

And: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHCJ-UhZFT4

And: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsAracLBCxI

The When

You would make sure your scapegoats had ample opportunity to be the cause of the events. By choosing mostly concepts (i.e. terrorism, global warming, over population) instead of specific people, the scapegoats themselves can’t be questioned. You simply get people to buy into the concept and that’s it.

To learn more go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvLe-K53O1I

The How

You would make sure it seamed plausible for your scapegoats to actually be able to create the reason for the planet being stolen. (False flag terror attacks, fake statistics from “experts”)

To learn more go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HXtE87R04w

The Where

Also in the event that you didn’t get caught in the act, you would need an alibi for where you were during the time when the planet was stolen. You would need to keep yourself out of the public eye by focusing people’s attention on someone else. (presidents, congress, world “leaders”)

To learn more go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtB78Oy3vn4

Back Up

Just to ensure that your cover stories worked, you would need to have others back up your story. (paid “experts”)

To learn more go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HXtE87R04w

You would need to control as much of what people heard and saw as possible. (control of the main stream media  and S.O.P.A. and now C.I.S.P.A. to take control of the internet)

Song of the Day “Tiny Speck”

Tiny Speck

© 2012 Andy Harrison

I would hate to be the one

In charge of bringing darkness

The one who tries

To shut out the light

I would hate to have the task

Of drowning out the silence

To stir the peace

Into a raging fight

Chorus:

The universe is mostly space

The universe is mostly silence

The universe is mostly peace

With a tiny speck of violence

Verse 2:

I would hate to be in charge

Of creating this destruction

Tearing down the forces of life

It would be such a struggle

A never ending battle

To work against

No end in sight

Chorus:

The universe is mostly space

The universe is mostly silence

The universe is mostly peace

With a tiny speck of violence

Thought for the Day “Tempo”

Tempo

By Andy Harrison

When I first started playing guitar back when I was 11, I started out mostly playing by myself, learning chords etc. After awhile I learned a few songs and I felt like I was getting better.

A friend of mine from school who was learning to play the drums heard that I was learning the guitar and he invited me over to “jam” (If you don’t know, “jam” is the official term for musicians playing together, often times without a formal plan-just for fun).

So I took my borrowed cheep electric guitar and starter amp over to my friend’s house anticipating how great we were going to sound.

About 2 songs into our jam session, I realized something wasn’t working. For some reason the songs that sounded pretty good to me when I played them at home sounded horrendous when playing them with my friend. We weren’t syncing up. He was playing a different tempo than I was playing and I wasn’t following him (“Tempo” is another word for the speed at which you play a piece of music). We tried a different song that my friend knew really well. Same thing. It sounded horrible. It felt horrible.

It wasn’t long before I realized that there was another skill I needed to develop before I could easily play with other musicians – the skill of paying attention to what the other instruments were playing while I was playing my instrument.

By being able to have some of my attention on what the other instruments were doing, I could adjust and sync up so we could all be playing at the same tempo. As I worked at it, I became better at putting some of my attention on what the other instruments were playing and speeding up or slowing down as needed to stay at the same tempo as the other instruments I was playing with.

After playing with several bands with musicians who all had developed the skill of paying attention to the other instruments, making music with other musicians became much more enjoyable, fun and easy. When we were all playing in the same tempo, the life inside the music would just jump out and magical unexpected moments would occur that surprised everyone. It was effortless and full of wonder. Whenever one person got out of tempo, we could feel it immediately.

Now this is probably going to sound really cheesy but hang with me on this. Isn’t this exactly how life works too? I mean the way events unfold in your life each day – from when the telephone rings to what you decide to do next to what you say when you’re talking to someone. All of the little events and tiny decisions you make throughout each day have a flow to them – a tempo.

Each little thing has an effect on all the other things don’t they? Like whether or not you decide to hit the snooze button one more time has an effect on whether or not you are rushing to get to your first appointment which has an effect on the state you will be in when you get there which will have an effect on what you decide to say and do during your appointment which has an effect on the outcome of the appointment and so on and so on.

Every tiny detail is woven together in a tempo. You are either “playing” at the same tempo as your life or you are rushing ahead of it or lagging behind it.

Sometimes you have some influence over the speed for a moment. Sometimes it is someone or something else. To stay in tempo with your life you need the skill of paying attention to what the other “instruments” are playing and to make small adjustments by speeding up or slowing down as needed to stay at the same tempo. You need the skill of putting part of your attention on what else is happening while you are doing your part. You have your part to play that naturally fits with all the other parts. It can feel enjoyable, fun and easy as long as it’s in the same tempo as the other parts.

We all know the feeling of what being out of tempo with our life feels like. In fact I feel that most of my life between the ages of 7 and 40 was spent almost entirely out of tempo with my life. It feels hard. It feels heavy. It feels like a struggle. It feels like things don’t work.

On the other hand we’ve all had at least glimpses or periods of time when things all clicked. When life felt easy, like we were flowing with everything else that was happening and synchronistic events just happened magically. I think this is what being in tempo with you life feels like. I think we all are already playing in a band everyday and if it’s not feeling enjoyable, we are simply not paying attention to the other instruments and playing at the right tempo. J

Pain isn’t pain when it’s all rearranging

You pay yourself when you pay attention

Every day is a life extension

1, 2 headed for the breakthrough

3, 4 better than before

5, 6 see how it all clicks

So quick brand new

Headed for the breakthrough

Song of the Day “Invented”

Invented

© 2012 Andy Harrison

From the day you were born they put you in a box

Trained your mind to define under key and lock

Your identity formed from predefined scripts

So your future’s controlled and your wings are clipped

Chorus:

There are better choices than the ones presented

If you want a better life it’s got to be invented

You grew up being told you have freedom to choose

But that’s only so you doubt yourself more when you loose

You only can choose from the options you see

So what’s presented as a choice defines your reality

Chorus:

There are better choices than the ones presented

If you want a better life it’s got to be invented

When you map out your future from childhood on

You’re building space in your brain for your life to dance upon

Forces through people and people through systems

Try to limit your vision cut you off from your wisdom

Chorus:

There are better choices than the ones presented

If you want a better life it’s got to be invented

Song of the Day “Reset Button”

Reset Button

© 2012 Andy Harrison

Out fox tube socks

New shares of old stocks

Big rocks shoe box

Loading docks chicken pox

Berry pie stink eye

Reason why the birds fly

Heavy sigh live or die

Just do don’t try

Chorus:

New doors open

Old ones shuttin’

Everyday hit the reset button

Sky wide open

Old chains cuttin’

Everyday hit the reset button

Live free old decree

Eye see reality

Piano key barren tree

Chess piece lock and key

Fast slow radio

Purple scarf and rainbow

Big toe lamp glow

Better when you don’t know

Chorus:

New doors open

Old ones shuttin’

Everyday hit the reset button

Sky wide open

Old chains cuttin’

Everyday hit the reset button

Song of the Day “Love is Freedom”

Love is Freedom

© 2012 Andy Harrison

Way back past the foothills

End of a dirt road

She grew up with 7 brothers

And a lawn never mowed

She would hide in the sage brush

From her Dad’s whiskey breath

Praying black crows were angels

And right would turn left

Chorus:

Love is freedom

Freedom is love

If they don’t feel like the same thing

Ain’t got what you’re thinkin’ of

Ain’t no contradiction

Ain’t no compromise

Love is freedom

All the rest lies

She broke free to the city

When she was 14

Changed her name and hair color

Reaching out for some dream

Worked the restaurants and night clubs

And the dive bars

Scraping quarters and dollars

Looking up towards the stars

Chorus:

Love is freedom

Freedom is love

If they don’t feel like the same thing

Ain’t got what you’re thinkin’ of

Ain’t no contradiction

Ain’t no compromise

Love is freedom

All the rest lies

She had her own little angel

When she was 28

They lived in a one bedroom

Over looking the lake

Rocking chair by the window

With the breeze blowing in

She took in a deep breath

Watched the new day begin

Chorus:

Love is freedom

Freedom is love

If they don’t feel like the same thing

Ain’t got what you’re thinkin’ of

Ain’t no contradiction

Ain’t no compromise

Love is freedom

All the rest lies

Thought for the Day “The Positive Gift of the New World Order?”

Regardless of how you feel about the people behind the current financial, governmental, corporate and social systems that have been in place for the past 100 years, you have to marvel at these people’s ability to design incredibly effective systems.

If you understand how all the above mentioned systems work together and were designed to produce specific results, the designs, in my opinion, are nothing short of miraculous. These systems have been producing very effective consistent results for the people that designed them for over 100 years.

Of course now we can see these systems potentially starting to break down and the designers taking bold actions to try to preserve them.

I’d like to suggest that the reason these systems are potentially starting to fail is not due to their design; it is in fact due to the intentions of the people who designed them.

The systems themselves have worked tremendously to produce results. The results they were designed to produce however seam to be the reason for the break down.

Can you imagine a world where we make use of this knowledge to design incredibly effective systems but the intended result of the new systems are to help all of humanity and the planet?

Perhaps the positive contribution that the people that designed our current systems will ultimately make to the world is their contribution in showing us how to build incredibly effective systems.

Song of the Day “Way More Love”

Way More Love

© 2012 Andy Harrison

When you open up your eyes

And see the world brand new

And all the lies you used to live in

You suddenly see through

The horror in the knowing

All you didn’t know before

Can rattle all your safety

Can shake you at your core

Chorus:

Way more love

Way more love

Got to give yourself way more love

World can tear you down

Got to rise above

Give yourself way more love

When you strike out on a new path

Towards the truth you understand

Change no longer luxury

Life and death at hand

Forces all around

You used to barely hear their voice

Now scream into the silence

Try to steer your choice

Chorus:

Way more love

Way more love

Got to give yourself way more love

World can tear you down

Got to rise above

Give yourself way more love

Song of the day: “Don’t Wanna Be a Rock Star” (sung to the tune of “Rock Star” by Nickelback) Creative Commons License 2012 Andy Harrison

I’m done with hearin’ songs about drinkin’ and sex
I got a brain in my head but haven’t used it yet
The main stream media has never been a friend to me

Tell me what you want

I wanna know the truth what’s really goin’ on
Not get brain fucked by a stupid ass song
Designed to shift my focus from how bad this world is getting to be

So what you need?

I need a government that’s not run by crooks
I need a money system that can’t be shook
I need my freedom of speech and all my civil liberties

Been there done that

I want to know my air is clean and safe
I want my water without that chemical taste
And my food not genetically altered to give me disease

How you gonna do it?

I’m gonna trade this life for positive change
Drop my radio off at the riffle range

Chorus 1:
We all just wanna be big rock stars
We been fucked in the head we don’t like who we are
Sold on the notion that we ain’t worth shit
Gotta worship some stoned stupid idiot

We don’t live in reality
When we’re lost in some adolescent fantasy
Social engineers workin’ overtime
Putting people on stage to keep the slaves in line
Hey, hey don’t want to be a rock star

I’d have to be like Elvis with all the hassles
Work for criminals who treat the world like assholes
They’d use me as a tool to help keep the public asleep

I’d be the poster child for a life of excess
Your kids would wanna take drugs and get undressed
While my bosses rob you blind and tear apart your country

How you gonna do it?

I’m gonna trade this life for positive change
Drop my radio off at the riffle range

Chorus 2:
We all just wanna be big rock stars
We been fucked in the head we don’t like who we are
Sold on the notion that we ain’t worth shit
Gotta worship some stoned stupid idiot

We don’t live in reality
When we’re lost in some adolescent fantasy
Social engineers workin’ overtime
Putting people on stage to keep the slaves in line

We hang out watchin’ videos full of drug addicts, thugs and hoes
Every world bank owner has a good hard laugh
As the take our civil rights and steal our cash
Hey, hey don’t want to be a rock star

The 3 Underlying Forces of Nature

The 3 underlying forces in nature:

1)    The force of destruction

2)    The force of maintenance

3)    The force of creation

For more on this visit: http://www.yogabasics.com/learn/the-3-gunas-of-nature.html

All 3 forces are present in every thing in nature including humans. Humans have a unique ability to alter the amounts of each of these within ourselves and our environments simply by what we put our attention on.

The force of destruction takes over as a default whenever we don’t put enough of our attention on something or when we put too much attention on something. For more on this visit: http://www.andyharrisonmusic.com/understanding-balance-in-7-bullet-points-2/

For example if I don’t clean my kitchen counter for 2 weeks the force of destruction will become obvious with all the dishes and grime that would pile up. Likewise if I become compulsive about cleaning my counter and scrub it everyday for 4 hours, the Formica (or whatever it’s made of) will start to wear off and the force of destruction will again be apparent (not to mention the neglect to other areas of my life because of my compulsive cleaning).

The world is fucked up because a small group of people have found ways to benefit from the force of destruction. They have set up intricate systems that provide them material benefits from humanity putting not enough attention or too much attention on things. These systems encourage people to shift their attention in ways that bring out the force of destruction on our planet and in the process provide the people who set up the systems a constant flow of material benefits and further control (simply the ability to continue to do this more easily and to a greater extent in the future).

For example (I’ll use the cleaning metaphor again). So if I continue to neglect my kitchen counter let’s say for months, the grime and dirt might become so great that I can’t get it clean on my own and have to hire a cleaning company. Let’s say I don’t have the extra money but because I want to move to another apartment without loosing my security deposit, I put it on a credit card. Now every month that I keep that balance I pay interest which requires more of my energy and focus each month to attempt to earn the money to pay not only the original amount but now the interest on top. If I don’t put a significant amount of focus on paying that bill, the interest keeps adding up and I get further behind.

Same thing might happen if I were a compulsive cleaner and put too much attention on cleaning and wore a whole in my kitchen counter. I might have to have the Formica replaced and put that on a credit card.

This is an example of a system set up to benefit from the force of destruction operating in my life. I triggered the system because I didn’t put enough attention on cleaning my counter or I put too much attention on cleaning my counter.

These systems are everywhere and are designed to take advantage of this natural law. We ultimately have a tremendous amount of power over our own lives and the future of the planet because most of the time we can decide where we put our attention. Simply being aware that the systems are there and are not put in place for our benefit is a good starting point-don’t you think?

Song of the Day “Crazy Guess

Crazy Guess

© 2012 Andy Harrison

You were the one who had it

Had it all in line

I made you laugh with my

Bad jokes 3, dollar wine

You set the course and I had

Nothin’ better planned

It was just a matter of time

‘For the crashing waves hit the sand

Crashing waves hit the sand

Chorus;

I’m letting you go

Let whatever be

Plans that we made

I’ll set them free

Look at what’s here

I’ll do my best

The future ahead

A crazy guess

Maybe you’ll go back to

The place where you grew up

Look for that guy there

Where the lightning once struck

I can’t be thinkin’ ‘bout that

Wind’s blowin’ much too strong

And in my head keeps swirling

This simple brand new song

Simple brand new song

Your Brian: Your Most Powerful Ally and Your Most Destructive Enemy

The brain is just an organ in your body. Just like your liver, your heart, or your stomach it has a specific job to do.

The brain’s job is to put edges on things. Period. (Yeah O.K. there are different parts of the brain and some of them do all sorts of other stuff like regulate your heart rate and hormones etc. but for practical purposes it might be useful just to think about your brain’s job as simply to define things- or put edges on things.)

This is your greatest tool and your most destructive parasite depending on when you choose to use it.

Have you ever finally made a decision that you feel 100% great about after a period of uncertainty? Didn’t that feel wonderful to finally have resolution and be able to move forward? Didn’t it feel like you suddenly had much more energy and things started to flow again?

This is an example of you using your brain as a tool. You put edges around reality so that you could focus your energy for a specific purpose.

Haven’t you also had the experience of feeling frustrated by things not working; like everything you were doing just made things worse but you felt a compulsion to keep going because it was the only thing you knew how to do at that moment? Didn’t that feel terrible? Like you were trapped in a tunnel of frustration and anxiety and nothing you did seemed to bring you closer to getting out?

This is an example of your brain using you. You kept acting on the edges that your brain had already put around reality even when those edges no longer brought you the result you wanted.

So what to do? The quality of your life is mostly determined by how well you develop these 2 skills:

1)     The skill of putting useful edges around reality

2)     The skill of taking away all edges around reality

The faster that you can switch between the two, the more flexibility in living you have and the more accurate the edges you create will be. This is resistance training and acceptance training simultaneously. Learning how to quickly assess a situation, know what you want and start taking action when that is appropriate, and also learning to quickly let go of all previous edges when what you are doing stops working and you need updated information about a situation (ie. a reality check).

How do you know when to do which? Whenever you feel less than great might be a good starting point (ie whenever you feel like shit). Your emotions can act as a warning to either put some edges on things and start moving or to take all the edges away so you can hit the reset button on your mental map before you redefine things.

These are skills you can practice everyday. Life will bring you continual opportunities to practice these 2 skills whether you want them or not.

Song of the Day: Or Becomes And

Or Becomes And

©2012 Andy Harrison

We are the changing in motion

The unfolding of stars

The space holding creation

The near and the far

We are the sounding and silence

The seen and unseen

The witnessing and the witnessed

And all in between

Chorus:

Stretching out in all directions

Widening the image

Mirror’s reflection

Past the limits

The circle expands

Black and white turns to color

And or becomes and

We are the taste and the tasting

The loving and loved

The befriending and hurting

And all the above

We are the choosing and chosen

We are nothing and all

The question and answer

The stand and the fall

Chorus:

Stretching out in all directions

Widening the image

Mirror’s reflection

Past the limits

The circle expands

Black and white turns to color

New Card Game: Praze Craze

Here’s a card game I made up for my kids last year after a week of hearing them fight. I’ve played this with my kids, with my band and with people I just met and I’ve found that most of the time it works great to bring people together and focus on the positive. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Here’s how it works:

You’ll need 1 or 2 decks of cards (2 decks if you have 4 or more people), and a timer. You can play this with 2 or more people.

Each person takes turns being the Praisee. Going one at a time, all the other players have 1 minute each to give as many compliments to the Praisee as they can. Each time they give a compliment to the Priasee, they hand the Praisee a card from the deck.

The Praisiee decides whether to accept the compliment or reject it based on how that compliment makes them feel. The Praisie has the choice to reject any compliment that he or she feels is not genuine, heart felt or for any other reason.

As the cards are handed to the Priasee, the Praisee takes each card and puts it into one of two piles: one pile for the compliments he or she accepts and one pile for the compliments he or she rejects. At the end of each 1 minute round the Priasee hands all the cards in the accepted pile back to the Priaser and the Praiser keeps them to add up at the end of the game.

The game continues with each of the other players having a 1 minute turn as the Priaser. You keep playing until each player has had a turn being both the Praisee and the Praiser for each of the other players.

At the end of the game each player adds up all their accepted praise cards and the one with the most cards wins the game. So the person who gave the most accepted compliments wins.

Success is Something You Do Every Day

“Success is Something You do Every Day”

Andy Harrison

Picture yourself as a toddler standing on the platform of your life. It’s like you are just learning to stand and keep your balance on this huge board that stretches out to either side of you and out into the future before you.

Underneath the platform directly under your feet is a thin pole that runs the entire length of your life holding up the platform from below. As you put more weight on either side of this pole, the platform shifts to whichever side more of your weight is on. It’s like you are standing on a huge see-saw and learning how to keep from falling off.

On one side of the platform is the law of atrophy. If you lean too heavily on that side, your life begins to deteriorate from lack of attention. On the other side of the platform is the law of diminishing returns. If you lean too heavily on that side, your life begins to deteriorate from over work. You discover the only way to stay standing and moving forward in your life is by staying directly above the pole, putting an equal amount of weight on either side – but it’s still wobbly.

As a toddler you had older people there to help you as best they could to stand up and walk into your future. As you grew up you saw many examples of how well other people were balancing on their life platforms and you copied and learned and experimented for yourself.

Depending on what these examples were and how your experiments turned out, you developed patterns of putting your weight more to one side than the other in different areas of your life. This shifting of your weight more to one side than the other at certain points as you walked through your life created some consistency to the results you got in each area. Even if you didn’t like the results you kept getting, you could at least count on them being pretty consistent and that was probably a relief knowing how wobbly the whole platform was anyway.

As an adult you had many experiences of putting too much of your weight on both sides of your life’s platform at various times. In fact there were at least a couple of times where you walked completely to one side and nearly fell off one side, having to run back to other side quickly just to stay alive.

These “near death” experiences caused you to wake up and ask “why did that happen and how do I keep that from happening again?”

Finally after enough of these experiences you discover that in order to move forward on the platform of your life you need to keep your balance everyday. You also discovered that there were certain things that you can do to help you keep your balance each day. You learned that what you do every day consistently counts, not just for today but for the rest of your life.

You learned hat once you do something consistently (for 21 days) it becomes a habit and you no longer have to think about it, it just continues to deliver the same results day after day.

You also discovered that certain positive habits in each area of your life acted as stabilizers for your entire life’s platform as long as you did them consistently. It was as if these habits widened the pole under your platform.

The pole was now more like a solid block growing wider with each new habit. You could then walk easily into your future and your life stayed consistently balanced under the widening structure of what you did every day.

One of the best habits you learned to develop was the habit of paying attention to what is new and different every day and feeling how that affects your balance. This habit helped you to notice when and how much to shift in each moment.

Song of the Day “Home”

Home

© 2012 Andy Harrison

I woke up this morning

To another day brand new

My mind already racing

With all I had to do

I felt a sense of overwhelm

Felt a sense of dread

I looked into the mirror

Heard a voice inside my head

Chorus:

All your attention

Bring it back here

Away from the distraction

The chaos and fear

All your attention

Bring it back home

Your thoughts might keep on calling

You can leave ‘em all alone

Immediately I felt it

I felt peace and relief

My mind would spin – I watched it

Try to steal me like a thief

A few times my thoughts took me

But I stepped back and observed

I could just be present

Not chase the twists and curves

Chorus:

All your attention

Bring it back here

Away from the distraction

The chaos and fear

All your attention

Bring it back home

Your thoughts might keep on calling

You can leave ‘em all alone

The Thin Line © 2012

Andy Harrison

Hey Samantha Let me come in

Been waitin’ here for hours For you to come back-where you been?

This curbside’s getting so cold See the clouds comin’ on?

Swear to God just 5 minutes

Then I’ll be gone

Chorus:

I’ve been walkin’ the thin line

Between heaven and hell

Where I step over

Getting’ easier to tell

I’ve been walkin’ the thin line

Getting’ easier to see

The choice I’m makin’

The choice here with me

Hey Samantha

I’m sorry -didn’t mean to mess up

Been kickin’ myself

It’s tearin’ me up

Now the rain’s startin’

Please don’t shut me out

Got so much to tell you

So much I’ve figured out

Chorus:

I’ve been walkin’ the thin line

Between heaven and hell

Where I step over

Getting’ easier to tell

I’ve been walkin’ the thin line

Getting’ easier to see

The choice I’m makin’

The choice here with me

How to See God?

How to See God?

You’ve GOD to be kidding me!

What if God is simply the process of paying attention?

Pay attention to your left hand- there is God.

Pay attention to your right hand –there is God.

Pay attention to yourself – there is God.

Pay attention to other people -there is God.

Pay attention to the world -there is God.

Pay attention to one religious text – there you find God.

Pay attention to a completely different religious text- Wow there you find God too.

Pay attention to your thoughts and reactions to what you pay attention to – there is God also.

Every where you look – there is God if God is the process of paying attention.

Beginners Luck is not Luck it is Unfiltered Intention

Have you ever experienced what some people call beginner’s luck? If you’re like most people this has probably happened many times throughout your life; You do something (that involves some level of skill) you’ve never done before and get great results the first time and then for some reason after that you can’t seam to do it as well.

What I think is happening is that during your first attempt at this new thing, you are operating outside of your self concept. You simply have not formulated any ideas about how this new action relates to who you are and thus you are not putting any limitations on the quality of the energy behind your actions. In other words, your intentions are pure and the results naturally follow.

Then on the second third and fourth tries, you have had time to involve your self concept in the doing. Your ideas of who you are now come into the process of taking the action and these ideas alter the quality of the energy behind your intentions and actions. Because of this you get different results.

Intentions are the energetic schematic for results.

Your true intention behind an action sets up the energetic field in which all results from that action happen. No matter how much you attempt to change a certain result you are getting without changing the intention behind your actions you will always create the same result over time. You may get a different result momentarily, but over time your intentions will guarantee that your results stay the same.

Your self concept (your idea of who “me” is) is the main filter that processes intentions. Your self concept also creates many built in intentions (that wouldn’t be there without your self concept) that guarantee you will get certain results. Simply by viewing yourself in a certain way, your self concept acts as an energy filter/processor and infuses your ideas and actions with the qualities that will create the results that you get.

You have three basic options if you want to change the results you are getting:

1)     Involve other people who will add the energetic qualities necessary to create the result (because they have a different self concept and thus different intentions which will lead to different results)

2)     Change your self concept to one that supports the results you want to create

3)     Operate outside of your self concept all together. In other words, be who you are beyond any idea of who you are.

To find out how your self concept might be affecting your results, ask yourself: are you doing as a means to being or are you doing as a result of being?

Are you exercising to be healthy or are you exercising because that’s what healthy people do?

Are you working to be wealthy or are you working because that’s what wealthy people do?

Are you learning things to become smarter or are you learning things because that’s what smart people do?

Do you care for others so you can experience love or do you care for others because that’s what loving people do?
