New Card Game: Praze Craze

Here’s a card game I made up for my kids last year after a week of hearing them fight. I’ve played this with my kids, with my band and with people I just met and I’ve found that most of the time it works great to bring people together and focus on the positive. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Here’s how it works:

You’ll need 1 or 2 decks of cards (2 decks if you have 4 or more people), and a timer. You can play this with 2 or more people.

Each person takes turns being the Praisee. Going one at a time, all the other players have 1 minute each to give as many compliments to the Praisee as they can. Each time they give a compliment to the Priasee, they hand the Praisee a card from the deck.

The Praisiee decides whether to accept the compliment or reject it based on how that compliment makes them feel. The Praisie has the choice to reject any compliment that he or she feels is not genuine, heart felt or for any other reason.

As the cards are handed to the Priasee, the Praisee takes each card and puts it into one of two piles: one pile for the compliments he or she accepts and one pile for the compliments he or she rejects. At the end of each 1 minute round the Priasee hands all the cards in the accepted pile back to the Priaser and the Praiser keeps them to add up at the end of the game.

The game continues with each of the other players having a 1 minute turn as the Priaser. You keep playing until each player has had a turn being both the Praisee and the Praiser for each of the other players.

At the end of the game each player adds up all their accepted praise cards and the one with the most cards wins the game. So the person who gave the most accepted compliments wins.

Picture yourself as a toddler standing on the platform of your life. It’s like you are just learning to stand and keep your balance on this huge board that stretches out to either side of you and out into the future before you.

Underneath the platform directly under your feet is a thin pole that runs the entire length of your life holding up the platform from below. As you put more weight on either side of this pole, the platform shifts to whichever side more of your weight is on. It’s like you are standing on a huge see-saw and learning how to keep from falling off.

On one side of the platform is the law of atrophy. If you lean too heavily on that side, your life begins to deteriorate from lack of attention. On the other side of the platform is the law of diminishing returns. If you lean too heavily on that side, your life begins to deteriorate from over work. You discover the only way to stay standing and moving forward in your life is by staying directly above the pole, putting an equal amount of weight on either side – but it’s still wobbly.

As a toddler you had older people there to help you as best they could to stand up and walk into your future. As you grew up you saw many examples of how well other people were balancing on their life platforms and you copied and learned and experimented for yourself.

Depending on what these examples were and how your experiments turned out, you developed patterns of putting your weight more to one side than the other in different areas of your life. This shifting of your weight more to one side than the other at certain points as you walked through your life created some consistency to the results you got in each area. Even if you didn’t like the results you kept getting, you could at least count on them being pretty consistent and that was probably a relief knowing how wobbly the whole platform was anyway.

As an adult you had many experiences of putting too much of your weight on both sides of your life’s platform at various times. In fact there were at least a couple of times where you walked completely to one side and nearly fell off one side, having to run back to other side quickly just to stay alive.

These “near death” experiences caused you to wake up and ask “why did that happen and how do I keep that from happening again?”

Finally after enough of these experiences you discover that in order to move forward on the platform of your life you need to keep your balance everyday. You also discovered that there were certain things that you can do to help you keep your balance each day. You learned that what you do every day consistently counts, not just for today but for the rest of your life.

You learned hat once you do something consistently (for 21 days) it becomes a habit and you no longer have to think about it, it just continues to deliver the same results day after day.

You also discovered that certain positive habits in each area of your life acted as stabilizers for your entire life’s platform as long as you did them consistently. It was as if these habits widened the pole under your platform.

The pole was now more like a solid block growing wider with each new habit. You could then walk easily into your future and your life stayed consistently balanced under the widening structure of what you did every day.

One of the best habits you learned to develop was the habit of paying attention to what is new and different every day and feeling how that affects your balance. This habit helped you to notice when and how much to shift in each moment.

You’ve GOD to be kidding me!

What if God is simply the process of paying attention?

Pay attention to your left hand- there is God.

Pay attention to your right hand –there is God.

Pay attention to yourself – there is God.

Pay attention to other people -there is God.

Pay attention to the world -there is God.

Pay attention to one religious text – there you find God.

Pay attention to a completely different religious text- Wow there you find God too.

Pay attention to your thoughts and reactions to what you pay attention to – there is God also.

Every where you look – there is God if God is the process of paying attention.

Beginners Luck is not Luck it is Unfiltered Intention

Have you ever experienced what some people call beginner’s luck? If you’re like most people this has probably happened many times throughout your life;You do something (that involves some level of skill) you’ve never done before and get great results the first time and then for some reason after that you can’t seam to do it as well.

 What I think is happening is that during your first attempt at this new thing, you are operating outside of your self concept. You simply have not formulated any ideas about how this new action relates to who you are and thus you are not putting any limitations on the quality of the energy behind your actions. In other words, your intentions are pure and the results naturally follow.

 Then on the second third and fourth tries, you have had time to involve your self concept in the doing. Your ideas of who you are now come into the process of taking the action and these ideas alter the quality of the energy behind your intentions and actions. Because of this you get different results.

 Intentions are the energetic schematic for results.

 Your true intention behind an action sets up the energetic field in which all results from that action happen. No matter how much you attempt to change a certain result you are getting without changing the intention behind your actions you will always create the same result over time. You may get a different result momentarily, but over time your intentions will guarantee that your results stay the same.

 Your self concept (your idea of who “me” is) is the main filter that processes intentions. Your self concept also creates many built in intentions (that wouldn’t be there without your self concept) that guarantee you will get certain results. Simply by viewing yourself in a certain way, your self concept acts as an energy filter/processor and infuses your ideas and actions with the qualities that will create the results that you get.

 You have three basic options if you want to change the results you are getting:

1)     Involve other people who will add the energetic qualities necessary to create the result (because they have a different self concept and thus different intentions which will lead to different results)

2)     Change your self concept to one that supports the results you want to create

3)     Operate outside of your self concept all together. In other words, be who you are beyond any idea of who you are.

To find out how your self concept might be affecting your results, ask yourself: are you doing as a means to being or are you doing as a result of being?

Are you exercising to be healthy or are you exercising because that’s what healthy people do?

Are you working to be wealthy or are you working because that’s what wealthy people do?

Are you learning things to become smarter or are you learning things because that’s what smart people do?

Do you care for others so you can experience love or do you care for others because that’s what loving people do?
